There are almost 6,000 of you now, and I wanted to take a moment 🙏
Thank you for being part of this journey ❤️
When I started Psychology Meets Writing in 2023, I had no big ambitions for it. I’d heard Substack was a great home for new writers, so I gave it a shot. For me, it was simply a place to put out my thoughts and improve my writing. Or maybe something to point to if a client ever asked.
Honestly, I didn’t think anybody would care. But I kept posting, and over three years the subscribers kept growing.
There are now almost 6,000 of you from around the world. I’m still wrapping my head around it.
A few months ago, something happened that I wasn’t expecting at all. Two subscribers, one after another, paid to support my work without me announcing anything or even properly setting up paid. They just did it on their own.
For someone like me, with a complicated relationship with self-worth, the idea that a stranger would be willing to PAY to read my work was kind of crazy.
With my newfound confidence, I decided it was time to go paid. But it wasn’t as simple as flipping a switch, like it is for other creators here. I had to contend with the disadvantage of geography. Stripe isn’t available in Pakistan.
To make it work, I had to register an LLC abroad. I took a few months to figure it out and now it’s finally done.
Stripe is set up and Psychology Meets Writing is officially going paid. 🎉
What’s Changing?
I have been publishing once a month, but going forward, I’m committing to two newsletters a month. One deep dive, the kind you’re used to. The other will be a shorter, punchier piece, still rooted in psychology, but more personal and observational.
What’s NOT Changing?
Everything stays free. All posts, for all readers, always. This is completely voluntary. If my writing has added value to your work or your thinking, and you want to support it, you can with $5 a month or $50 a year.
If not, that’s okay too. You still get every single post, no difference at all.
Thank you for being here. It means more than you know.
Ahsan 🙂
